Hey, I’m Alana and I am the person behind Cut off Your Hands Jewellery. I started making jewellery back in 2016 teaching myself at home before starting a Diploma Of Jewellery and Object Design at Melb Poly that same year. I started with the lost wax method which I adore but have been trying to do more and more hand fabricated work as well. My muses are heavy music and Brutalist architecture. The jagged, harsh nature of the music I love is what fuels my motivation. I see hard lines, textures and decay in the textures around me! My obsession with Brutalist architecture is what inspires my designs. I love the way over time concrete will start to stain and erode whilst still being foreboding and strong. I try and capture this in my work as I want the wearers of my pieces to feel confident and fierce when wearing COYH! Making jewellery changed my life, it is taking me on a creative adventure that I never thought I would find! Heavy metals for life!
